When Naturalis reopened its doors after renovation it welcomed over 1,000 visitors in its first hour and went on to win European Museum of the Year. It has a mission to describe and preserve biodiversity, linking the past and the future with family-focused displays designed to appeal to all ages. As part of the renovation, we conceived and designed the iconic Dinosaur Era gallery, and fabricated and installed the Early Humans exhibition.
Our design for the Dinosaur Era gallery is theatrical and multi-sensory – graphics projection and lighting evoke different environments, creatures roar and visitors feel the reverberations running through their bones, while the giant dinosaurs themselves take front stage. In the Early Human gallery our focus was on quality and detailing. Archaeological finds, and fossils are sensitively mounted, presented alongside recreations and media to bring our early ancestors vividly to life in visitors’ minds.
